What is the Zero Stress Chair?
How BodySound Technology Works
Using BodySound technology to facilitate spiritual development involves 1) learning how to deeply relax, which automatically shifts into deep states of meditation, 2) quieting the ego and 3) allowing spiritual entrainment to ensue.
Since the days of our early ancestors we have been endowed with a nervous system that has a built-in, hard-wired survival mechanism. As a result we are always scanning our environment for potential danger, consciously and subconsciously. This mechanism is supported primarily by 3 of our senses, sight, hearing, and touch. While you're in a BodySound session there is no need to worry about your survival because you are safe so it's okay to turn this mechanism off. We accomplish this by habituating/quieting your senses of sight, hearing and touch producing a brain state of inattention resembling a self-induced trancelike state.
Typically, when you go to sleep at night, you turn the lights off and close your eyes. We will darken the room and instruct you to close your eyes and deeply relax or fall asleep. As a result your visual system will receive no stimuli. We play layered music during the session. Multiple melodies are played simultaneously so it is difficult for your brain to follow the music. This dramatically reduces or eliminates your desire to listen or attend to the music, while allowing you to feel all of the bass and midrange frequencies as the transducers turn the sound into vibration as well. The relatively constant sound and vibration cause the neural circuitry associated with hearing and touch to become habituated - to stop attending to the stimuli. As a result, these portions of the nervous system become inhibited. Reducing the activity of the neural circuitry related to sight, hearing and touch, which supports your survival mechanism causes you to become far less vigilant or tense and as a result you become more relaxed and drift toward sleep.
What is interesting, however, is that two of the stimuli we provide, vibration and sound, which stimulate your senses of touch and hearing are the most effective at waking you up when these stimuli change in intensity. As a result you will find over a few sessions that you float between sleep and reduced wakefulness. While in this process you learn to become more aware of your deeply relaxed or sleeping body. That's exactly the state of consciousness that you want to achieve. In that state you feel extremely relaxed and with repeated sessions you learn what that feels like so that you can recreate this state at will.
For Spiritual Development
To facilitate, for those who are interested, greater appreciation and expression of our true nature through embodied spiritual experience. Almost everyone alive at some time in their lives asks themselves, "What Am I?" Although many of us think of ourselves as spiritual beings, we rarely openly admit that we are our soul, spirit or Source. Furthermore, most people typically behave in a manner more consistent with their ego (a person's conditioning, beliefs and coping strategies stored and processed within the brain's circuitry, also referred to as a person's lower mind).
We have come to observe that people are much more likely to self-identify as their soul (higher mind or higher self) and act in a manner more consistent with their spiritual nature when they regularly, physically experience their spiritual self. As such, it is of paramount importance to facilitate embodied spiritual experiences - experiences that are perceived by our physical bodies and not just mentally conceived. Additionally, with repeated spiritual experience, one develops greater trust allowing greater willingness to reduce the influence of their ego even more leading to greater spiritual experience. This is practical spirituality because it shifts our sense of reality in a practical way.
